About Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ)

 


Many surgical and non-surgical treatment modalities are wont to scale back pain in patients with mandibular joint disorders (TMDs). This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of centesis in relieving pain in patients with TMDs in a very sample of Pakistani population at TMJ Disorders Treatment in Islamabad Pakistan.

Both male and feminine elderly higher than eighteen years with criticism of pain in TMJ as diagnosed by history, clinical examination and picture taking examination were enclosed within the study. 100 & four patients were enclosed within the study through sampling technique and divided into 2 teams. Patients in type A were treated with conservative measures and centesis procedure. Patients in blood group were solely treated with conservative measures. The pain scores were recorded at pre-intervention and first day, seventh day and fourteenth day when intervention in each teams exploitation visual analogue scale.

The mean age of patients was recorded in each teams. 42.3 p.c of patients in type A were males whereas blood group had three6.5% males. a discount in pain was seen in each teams, with a statistically vital distinction on seventh and fourteenth day.


TMJ centesis are often a good treatment modality once conservative measures alone fail to alleviate the TMJ pain. It may persuade be a good adjunct to the conservative measures for treating the patients with temporomandibular disorders.
